Districts foresee financial benefits from bus ads
Two school districts in Colorado estimate generating $20,000 to as much as $60,000 as a result of advertising on their school buses. A third district has earned $1,280 this school year by advertising for four organizations.
More school districts in Colorado are considering advertising on school buses to generate additional revenue, according to The Denver Post.
Adams 12 Five Star Schools put its first ads on the outside of school buses last month. Greeley School District 6 fleet has been carrying ads for a year. The newspaper reports that the latter district has earned $1,280 this school year advertising for four organizations, including the University of Northern Colorado and Aims Community College. Adams 12 Five Star Schools estimates that it could make $20,000 in the first year with the ads on its fleet.
Now, Mapleton Public Schools has signed a contract with Spot on Solutions after debating for four years whether to take the advertising route. The district expects to have ads for its buses by the fall, and officials told The Denver Post that if every bus has an ad, the district could make as much as $60,000 in the first year.
