Communications coverage gaps throughout Dallas County frustrated bus drivers and compromised student safety, prompting the school district to look for a better solution. Their results are covered in a new case study from Motorola.
BUFFALO, Mo. — The large hills, deep valleys and densely wooded areas throughout Dallas County created numerous coverage gaps that prevented school bus drivers from staying in contact with district offices and schools.
The Dallas County R-1 School District bus drivers often had to stop on top of a high hill in order to communicate. And when they did get through, the audio was nearly unintelligible, forcing them to repeat themselves.
To address the problem, the district replaced its analog radios with a MOTOTRBO digital two-way radio solution from Motorola. The new system reportedly provides nearly 100-percent coverage throughout the district.
Dr. Jon Turner, assistant superintendent at Dallas County R-1 School District, discusses the situation and the solution in a new case study from Motorola.
The study is available for free (with e-mail registration) via the SBF White Papers section. To access the study, go here.
