VAIL, Ariz. — Vail School District has equipped one of its school buses with a wireless router, supplying students with Internet access during long rides.

School officials say the Wi-Fi service encourages students to study during the bus ride and contributes to a quieter, safer atmosphere on board.

Chief Information Officer Matt Federoff says the units incorporate GPS and the same wireless network used on school campuses, which provides security filters that prevent students from viewing inappropriate content.

The district has identified 19 buses that serve the longest routes for two high schools and is applying for a grant to equip those buses with routers by the end of the school year, The Arizona Daily Star reports.
