MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Industry stalwart Pete Baxter on Sunday night became the 35th recipient of SCHOOL BUS FLEET’s Administrator of the Year award.

Baxter, the state pupil transportation director of Indiana, has been involved in the school bus industry for nearly three decades. He leads training efforts in his state, including an annual statewide in-service, and he is regularly invited to give presentations in other states.

Baxter has held two of the most prominent roles in the industry: president of the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) and president of the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services.

In addition to his responsibilities as Indiana’s state director, Baxter now serves as chair of the National Congress on School Transportation. In that position, he has been leading efforts to improve the processes for updating the industry’s specifications and procedures manual.

NAPT’s awards program will be continued Monday morning. A full list of winners will be posted on Schoolbusfleet.com afterward.
