Tammy League rushes to assist a man bleeding from an incision point from a surgery he had recently. She uses her training, as well as safety gloves and a first aid kit from her bus, to stanch the bleeding until an ambulance arrives.

NAPT awards over a dozen scholarships

The scholarships cover the cost of registration to attend the 2011 Annual NAPT Summit, which will be held in Cincinnati next month. The funding for nine of the scholarships was provided by Zonar Systems. The funding for four of the scholarships was provided by Peter Lawrence, director of transportation for the Fairport (N.Y.) Central School District, and his wife, Linda.

The Cyr Foundation for Excellence in School Transportation launches a new educational program aimed at providing useful information for school bus drivers. The program includes a monthly newsletter and a 15-minute training video six times over the school year. The first issue of "In the Drivers' Seat" was sent to 60 districts across the state on Monday.
ZoeBus instructs on bus safety, bullying prevention

ZoeBus offers interactive training, workshops and assemblies with a focus on good character for Missouri school bus drivers and elementary school students. Founder Gina Crump travels to schools in a bus equipped with flat-screen televisions and a sound system and teaches students how to "respect the ride," she tells SBF. Mass. district scraps new busing plan

North Attleboro Public Schools will reinstate bus service to all stops and go back to using last year’s routes after deficiencies in its new busing plan are revealed during the first week of school. A bus that was cut from the fleet to save the district $45,000 reportedly will be brought back into service by W.T. Holmes Transportation Co. at no cost to the district.
