Thomas Built calls for Driver of the Year nominations

The school bus manufacturer is once again recognizing bus drivers and the job that they do by asking students to nominate their drivers for the Children’s Choice School Bus Driver of the Year contest. Students in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to submit essays of at least 90 words describing what makes their driver special.

NYC school bus drivers to end strike

More than a month after going on strike, members of New York City's biggest school bus driver union will go back to work this week. Mayor Michael Bloomberg said on Friday night that union leaders had agreed to end the strike, with full bus service expected to resume on Wednesday.

In an effort to curb tobacco use among youths, ClearWay Minnesota launches a commercial that depicts school bus passengers lighting up. The Minnesota School Bus Operators Association is working to get the ad off the air, saying that it “defames the hard-working businesses and personnel working in the school transportation industry.”
25 of Mississippi district’s buses damaged by tornado

The tornado that struck Forrest and Lamar counties on Sunday affected nearly all of Hattiesburg Public School District’s buses, so schools were closed for several days. With buses on loan from neighboring operations, the district is able to resume transporting students on Thursday.
