At the annual conference of state pupil transportation directors, NHTSA Administrator David Strickland touts the safety and environmental benefits of the “humble yellow school bus,” as he calls it. VP Ken Hedgecock is among the team members who drive 10 school buses more than 500 miles to New Jersey. Hedgecock says that third party driveaway companies couldn't deliver the buses on time, "so we decided to do it ourselves.”
