Following the recent departure of Charley Kennington, the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services (NASDPTS) named Charlie Hood its new president-elect.

Hood, who serves as Florida's school transportation director, accepted the position after a majority of NASDPTS members voted to confirm him.

As president-elect, Hood will coordinate the annual NASDPTS conference in Grand Rapids, Mich., in October.

Current NASDPTS President Derek Graham said he has "no doubt that [Hood] will serve the organization well." Graham cited Hood's work as chair of the past two National Congresses on School Transportation and as a presenter at numerous industry events.

As previously announced, Kennington resigned from his position as a state pupil transportation director in Texas to move to a new job.
