HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Collins Industries, the largest manufacturer of Type A school buses in the U.S., is exploring a possible sale of the company. It has hired George K. Baum Advisors LLC to assist with the process.
Collins is the parent company of two school bus manufacturing divisions — Collins Bus Corp. and Mid Bus Inc. It is also a leading manufacturer of ambulances, terminal trucks and road construction and industrial sweepers.
Collins employs approximately 1,000 people in six plants with a combined manufacturing space of more than 1 million square feet.
Company officials said they will not be announcing developments in the process until a sale has been approved by the board of directors or until the process is terminated.
