THE PLAINS, Va. — Charlie Gauthier has resigned his post as executive director of the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services (NASDPTS).

Gauthier had notified the NASDPTS board in the fall that he needed to cut back and would not be contracting with the association in 2006.

“I am at that point in my life where I want to start spending more time with my family,” Gauthier said. “I also want to get back into the hobbies and interests that I have had for most of my adult life, but have not had the time to enjoy in recent years.”

NASDPTS President Pete Japikse said he was disappointed to see Gauthier step down, but respected his decision to spend more time with his family and on his personal life.

Japikse credited Gauthier with transforming the association “from a volunteer organization to a focused and respected authority within the pupil transportation industry.”

Japikse said the NASDPTS board named Gauthier a lifetime associate member. He had held the executive director position since 1995.
