Cleaire assets acquired by ESW
Cleaire, which offered a variety of diesel particulate filters to retrofit school buses and other vehicles, closed in January. Environmental Solutions Worldwide has now acquired Cleaire's product line and certain assets, and California air officials say that the company "is committed to providing technical and warranty support to Cleaire customers."
SAN DIEGO — Environmental Solutions Worldwide (ESW) has acquired the product line and assets of Cleaire Advanced Emissions Controls LLC.
Cleaire, which offered a variety of diesel particulate filters to retrofit school buses and other vehicles, ceased operations in January.
ESW Group, which manufactures emission control products for diesel, gasoline and alternative-fuel engines, closed the acquisition of certain Cleaire assets on April 18. The purchase price was $1.4 million.
With the acquisition, ESW established a new subsidiary, ESW CleanTech Inc., which will house the acquired assets and will operate out of San Diego.
“We are excited to have completed this transaction," ESW Executive Chairman Mark Yung said. "The assets acquired from Cleaire are complementary to the company’s existing business, and we intend to work to realize synergies from this acquisition.”
Since Cleaire's closure, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has been working with owners, installers and distributors of Cleaire products to provide support for their systems.
CARB "will continue to work with these parties as well as ESW CleanTech to ensure a smooth transition of ownership and continued product support," the agency said in a statement.
CARB also noted that ESW CleanTech "is committed to providing technical and warranty support to Cleaire customers" and will also remove all remaining original metal cores from Cleaire LongMile systems. The metal cores were reportedly linked to sparking and fire-starting.
