THE WOODLANDS, Texas — Local students will be treated to hands-on, earth-friendly science lessons aboard the Magic School Bus next year.
The bus will come to Montgomery County thanks to an environmental stewardship grant that electricity supplier Entergy Corp. awarded to the Houston Advanced Research Center (HARC) in The Woodlands.
Entergy gave $10,000 to the nonprofit HARC for its efforts to educate the public on supporting healthy ecosystems. HARC was one of 38 organizations in areas served by Entergy that received a total of $350,000 for environmental projects.
The Magic School Bus is based on Scholastic’s book and television series. The bus is a traveling science laboratory that is equipped with an exhaust filter to reduce particulate matter.
The bus will visit elementary schools in Montgomery County for 10 days around Earth Day next spring, accommodating up to 25 children at a time to educate them about the environment they live in.
