First Student recently named John Kiraly location manager for the company’s new contract in Saginaw, Mich., and Jim Daniel location manager in Savannah, Ga.

Kiraly manages all aspects of daily transportation operations for the location serving Saginaw Public Schools, including maintenance, safety and training. Officials said he brings extensive management and transportation experience to his new role.

“John is a valuable addition to the First Student team,” said Doug Meek, First Student area general manager. “His knowledge of Saginaw Public Schools and experience in ensuring the safe transportation for the students in the district is a tremendous asset for the community.”

Kiraly joins the First Student team with more than 30 years of experience in pupil transportation. He managed student transportation for Saginaw Public Schools and also supervised the custodial and ground personnel. Kiraly holds a bachelor’s degree in management from Central Michigan University.

The 2012-13 school year marks the start of First Student’s five-year contract with Saginaw Public Schools, which it was awarded earlier this year. The company will add 20 new buses over the contract term, and provide $10,000 in annual scholarships to graduating seniors as part of “Saginaw Promise,” the school district’s strategic plan to prepare students for college.

Jim Daniel oversees all aspects of the First Student Savannah facility's operations, including safety, maintenance and training for the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.

Jim Daniel is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the First Student Savannah facility’s operations, including safety, maintenance and training for the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.

Daniel has extensive business and management experience. Prior to joining First Student, he owned and operated Daniel Lumber Co. Daniel has also managed several other businesses in the Savannah area, including a courier company and a restaurant.

Daniel succeeds industry veteran Kerry Mayo, who was promoted to southeast area general manager at First Student.
