MONTREAL — First Student subsidiary Autobus Transco has acquired Montreal-based school bus company Transport St. Leonard.
With the $8.5 million deal, Autobus Transco began operating Transport St. Leonard's 150 schools buses in the Anjou area on Monday.
“We plan to make this transition process smooth for our students and employees," said Michel Larocque, general manager for First Student Eastern Canada. "Autobus Transco is committed to providing safe and reliable student transportation services and looks forward to a successful relationship with the school district.”
As part of the transition with the Transport St. Leonard acquisition, the experienced drivers will participate in 20 hours of classroom and behind-the-wheel training, which includes education on such topics as student behavioral management and bus safety.
Currently, Autobus Transco operates 400 school buses throughout Montreal.
