Ill. bus company improves service for school year
Illinois Central School Bus Co.’s service to five school districts in Winnebago County, Ill., has gone smoothly this school year, with buses on time and routes followed correctly. District and bus company officials met over the summer to better prepare and help avoid late busing and other problems that occurred during the last school year.
ROCKTON, Ill. — Illinois Central School Bus Co.’s second year of service to five school districts in Winnebago County has started more smoothly than its first year.
Officials from each of the districts reported that with the exception of a few minor cases of tardiness, all buses reported to school on time and all routes were followed correctly, the Rockford Register Star reports.
South Beloit, Rockton, Kinnikinnick, Hononegah and Prairie Hill school districts have been bidding for bus services together for more than three decades. Prior to the 2010-11 school year, the districts signed a three-year deal with the company.
Among the problems that occurred last year were buses being late, students being left behind and drivers not having the correct route information.
Over the summer, each of the five district superintendents met with bus company officials several times to make sure the drivers would be ready for this school year.
Rockton Superintendent Mike Greenlee told the Rockford Register Star that the districts and bus company were able to review and double-check routes ahead of time this year.
