SAN FRANCISCO — Next month, a team of bus drivers from First Student's school bus yard here will participate in AIDS/LifeCycle 10, a seven-day bike ride to raise AIDS awareness.
The team, called UNITED FIRST ... Against AIDS, is a diverse group of 24 bus drivers (14 cyclists and 10 roadies/event volunteers) who will be riding 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
The team was organized by Beau Thompson, the team's captain and head dispatcher. The drivers have each committed to not only getting fit and training, but to raise $3,000 each. Team UNITED FIRST... Against AIDS has set a goal of $100,000. All funds will go to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
Anyone who would like to make a tax deductible donation can visit the team's page here.
The bike ride will be held June 5-11.
