Durham donates services for home renovation project

WARRENVILLE, Ill. — Durham School Services recently donated shuttle service for the filming of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition television series in Jacksonville, Fla.
In the television series, a house belonging to a well-deserving family gets a complete renovation, all in the course of a week. More than 50 school bus drivers volunteered their time for the event in Jacksonville.
Durham School Services has been a part of the Jacksonville community since 2006 and provides transportation for Duval County Public Schools. Company officials said that being involved with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was an excellent opportunity to further serve their neighbors.
Durham provided two shuttles for the filming. One shuttle was used for the volunteers helping to build the home; it ran almost 24 hours a day. The other shuttle was used for spectators and ran 12 hours a day. Drivers worked two- to three-hour shifts.
“When we were approached about the possibility of supporting Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, we knew it would be a project that our outstanding group of employees would want to support," said John Ziegler, Durham’s region vice president. "As we set out to sign up drivers to volunteer their time, the response was overwhelming. It demonstrated the sense of community spirit and giving that our team at Durham School Services is all about."
