Delco Remy endows $5K for America's Best scholarships
The heavy-duty electrical system supplier contributes to the program, which provides financial assistance to qualifying techs and inspectors to attend the competition. This year's competition will be held in Jasper, Ind., Sept 28 through Oct. 1.
Delco Remy has endowed $5,000 for the 2010 America's Best Scholarship Program, providing financial assistance for qualifying technicians and inspectors to attend the national competition.
The National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) and the National School Bus Inspection Council sponsor the nationwide search for America’s Best school bus technician and inspector.
Participants in the competition must complete a written evaluation of their knowledge. In addition, technicians complete a diagnostics test, and inspectors perform an inspection. The competition is integrated with workshops covering school bus components and systems.
This year, the seventh annual competition will take place at Jasper Engines & Transmissions in Jasper, Ind., Sept. 28 through Oct. 1.
To qualify for an America's Best Scholarship:
The competitor must have met all qualifications as described in the America's Best rules and must be a winning competitor in their local state competition or chosen by an authorized state committee as their representative to America's Best.
All submissions for scholarship funds must include estimated cost for travel expenses and lodging to attend America's Best.
All applications must be submitted to the America's Best Scholarship Committee (ABSC) for review and evaluation at least 45 days prior to the competition. Application deadline: Aug. 13, 2010. For the application form, click here.
The ABSC will review all applicants and notify scholarship winners at least 30 days prior to the competition.
Only one scholarship will be awarded per state/per sponsor.
All awards as determined by the ABSC shall be final.
Scholarships are designated to cover the anticipated cost for a competitor to attend and participate in America's Best. Associated costs that will be considered are travel expenses (car, airfare, lodging, etc.) for the competitor only.
The ABSC will comprise one NAPT board member, two America's Best Committee members and a scholarship sponsor representative.
